Leaving Lawson

March 27th, 2008

Hello again,

I feel like an old pro at this point.  In the last two days, I’ve visited three schools and only managed to hit one poor unsuspecting girl with a chocolate eyeball (I threw one into the audience and must have let it get away from me because it hit the ceiling and then came straight down).  For your amusement (but probably not much) I’ve attached a photo of me in front of Lawson Middle School.  Lawson, I must say, has a pretty sweet auditorium.

After Lawson, it was onto Hyde Middle School yesterday — these early morning tour stops are reminding me of how horrible it was to wake up for zero period when it was still dark out.

In the afternoon, Mrs. LaCrosse was kind enough to fit me into Woodside School’s schedule.  Woodside is probably the most scenic school I’ve been to yet — tucked away in the mountains.  Thanks to Mrs. MarkdaSilva, who came up with a great activity during my visit there, using song lyrics — I don’t think I’m ever going to forget a particular quote about brains and peanuts that one of the students came up with.

And I’ll leave you with some totals and a lyric from another student at Woodside:  ”I’ve never been a fan of long goodbyes.”   Very appropriate.

Number of Students Talked to:  1,950
