Harvest Park

April 12th, 2008

Hello again.

It’s me. I just returned from Pleasanton, CA and let me tell you, Harvest Park Middle School is now one of my favorites. I may have had my best teleportation volunteer to date. Cody, who informed me that he was already an experienced teleporter, wanted to go to Taiwan. He was more clever than I was and by the end of his two minutes on stage, he was running the show.

Harvest Park also happened to have the best-catching librarian I’ve come across. Ms. Black made a one-armed stab when I threw an eyeball at her — most impressive (of course she’s a catcher on the team’s softball team, so she’s had some practice). Many thanks to her for inviting me and hanging out with me all day! It was a pleasure (and Pleasanton sure lives up to the name).

I better go study some Constitutional Law now.  Oh!  A few more totals for those of you keeping track at home.

Students Talked to:  3,295
Number of Appearances: 17
Number of Schools: 7

Successful teleports:  Depends on the day

Cupertino & Jordan Middle School

April 7th, 2008

Hey Folks,

The school tour rages on.  Well, maybe it’s not “raging.”  More like steadily marching.  I’ve hit two more schools since I last dropped by (does one drop by one’s own blog?), and I was pretty impressed by each.  Cupertino gets the award for the nicest computers I’ve seen to date.  They have some sweet new mac desktops in the library.  A special thanks to Mrs. Gerhing for setting everything up.  Though no one teleported, I swear we got close.

This last Friday, I left Property class a few minutes early in order to make it to my first talk at Jordan Middle School.  Jordan is pretty close by, so I didn’t have to speed or run any stop signs to get there (now that I’m a law student, I’m a little paranoid about such things).  I did four appearances at Jordan (my most at one school to date) and I couldn’t have asked for a nicer group.  I think the students even paid attention to my Kogler Kronicles story, which is saying something.  Mrs. McQueen was gracious and even fed me since I was there during lunch (it’s the little things, you know?).

Before I give you the running totals, I should say that I DO plan on spicing up the pictures some (I know you’re probably bored of seeing me pictured in front of schools — I know I am).  I just have to figure out a way to mix it up.  Maybe I’ll take pictures of the strangest part of each school I visit.  If you’ve got any ideas, send them my way.

Now for those totals . . . .

Total Schools = 6
Appearances = 14
Total Students Subjected to my Schtick = 2,685
Failed Attempts to Teleport = 14 (practice makes perfect, I guess)

And on to the next!
